There is a new schedule for Faith Formation in response to the Angleton Independent School District (AISD) time changes for the coming school year. Because of the changes to the AISD Schedule, we have also made changes accordingly to better serve our children. We ask for your patience this year as we adjust as well.
Registration is closed for the year. If you have missed the deadline or have questions please call the parish office.
Elementary Faith Formation (K - 5th grades)
We are never too young to say yes to God or to embrace a relationship with Him. It is the hope that from a very young age children are learning the mysteries of God, reading and learning the Scriptures, and building a life of prayer. These are precious years of formation and it is a privilege to work with you their first and primary catechists to build this life of faith in our elementary children. The new times this year for K-5th Grade formation are as follows:
Sunday 12:00pm-1:30pm
Monday 5:00pm-6:30pm
Thursday 5:00pm-6:30pm
If you have a child ready to begin formation for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, we are remaining faithful to the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston’s requirement that this be a 2 year program of formation in the life of faith as well as direct and immediate preparation for each sacrament. That’s 2 consecutive years of regular faith formation classes, so if you would like your child to receive the sacrament the following spring please plan to register and attend faith formation this year.
Youth Ministry (Jr. High 6th-8th grades, High School 9th-12th grades)
Youth Ministry in our parish continues to grow, this year we are launching a Middle School program from grades 6-8! Middle school will meet Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00pm. Our Youth Minister Ethan Boerger is working hard to make this an engaging program that will help prepare young people to ask their questions of faith and take hold of it as they walk into their High School years.
Our High School program coincides with the normal age for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in our archdiocese. The norm is that those in their Junior Year of High School would be confirmed by the bishop. Here at Most Holy Trinity we normally have confirmation the Fall of their Junior Year. This sacrament also requires a full two-year preparation process in the life of faith as well as immediate preparation for the particular sacrament. As well as this ongoing preparation for a life of faith the bishop has asked that youth participate in two retreats as a part of their two year preparation process in order to deepen their life of faith and give them opportunities to step away from the business of life to encounter Jesus in prayer. Part of their formation in the second year is also participation in and leading various aspects of the liturgy at our Sunday 6:30pm Mass.
Freshmen and Sophomores participate in this two year confirmation process and then in their Junior Year students, typically, receive the Sacrament. In the fall of their Junior Year before confirmation, the Juniors will learn how to be Servant Leaders by learning to share what they have learned with those in the first two years of formation. Once they have received Confirmation and been set on the mission of the Church by the Holy Spirit we invite High School youth to continue to participate in our Servant Leadership program which continues their formation in faith while fostering their leadership and giving them the opportunity to minister and witness to others.
Confirmation 1 (Freshmen or those entering their first year of Confirmation preparation) will be on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm.
Confirmation 2 (Sophomores or those entering their second year of Confirmation preparation) will meet Sundays from 4:30-7:30pm.
Servant Leaders (Juniors or Seniors who have completed Confirmation 2)
Regardless of their participation in the other Youth Ministry offerings in our parish we offer Open Cafe in the Live Oak Cafe as a time of fellowship Mondays from 4pm-7pm. Drinks for the youth are sponsored and all from 6th-12th grade are welcome.
Adult Faith Formation
The Church considers adult catechesis to actually be the primary form of catechesis. We who are grown are to carry out in our daily lives the fullness of a life of faith and the mission of the Church to make disciples. To this end, We are offering an adult course in Catechesis on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm starting in the Fall. This will be our second time through the Credo course covering the foundational doctrines found in the creed. Registration to open shortly for this course.
Thank you for your ongoing support for the work of formation in this parish. May the Most Holy Trinity be praised, adored and loved in our parish and in the world.
