THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

Greetings brothers and sisters,

I can hardly believe that it is already 2023! With the Holy Days coming to a close, I will be taking off for a few days this week to rest and relax in the Smoky Mountains. A priest friend once asked if I was more of a beach person or a mountain person. I can say that easily I am a mountain person. There something about the climb and also the surprise vistas and openings where you can look out and see the world from a different perspective. I feel most re-created when I am in the mountains.
 
In other news, we have been searching and looking for a new secretary and I am proud to announce that Esmeralda Martinez has been hired on to help me in the office with meetings and answer questions about all the many things I am involved in, which is basically everything in the parish! I have to admit that I have many gifts but keeping a schedule and a to-do list is not one of them. I do it with a lot of effort and at times I fail at it miserably. I am much better just interacting with people in the moment and when the need arises. But in order to be a good steward of my time and yours I need a little help in the office. Please pray for Esmeralda, as she begins this role. Esmeralda is from our parish and she is bilingual. I am excited to have her help.
 
For those who were with us for our Christmas celebration, the art and environment team helped make the Church beautiful and the music at the liturgies were wonderful. Many volunteers offered their time and talents to help us praise the Lord. We are still on a search for a full time Music Director but for the time being, Charles Lopez has been a wonderful help for our liturgies. Nataly Cruz who is studying music at the University of St. Thomas and may one day go for her Master’s in Sacred Music has also been helping lead the choir at 10am Masses. And as always Luis Cruz helps lead music at the Mass in Spanish.
 
I ask that you say a few words of thanks for all their hard work, and to continue to pray for our parish to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Church in our celebration of the sacred liturgy.

¡Apenas puedo creer que ya es 2023! Con los Días Santos llegando a su fin, esta semana me tomaré unos días para descansar y relajarme en las Montañas Humeantes. Un amigo sacerdote me preguntó una vez si yo era más de playa o de montaña. Puedo decir que fácilmente soy una persona de montaña. Hay algo en la escalada y también en las vistas sorpresa y las aberturas donde puedes mirar y ver el mundo desde una perspectiva diferente. Me siento más recreado cuando estoy en las montañas.
 
En otras noticias, hemos estado buscando y buscando una nueva secretaria y me enorgullece anunciar que se contrató a Esmeralda Martínez para ayudarme en la oficina con las reuniones y responder preguntas sobre todas las cosas en las que estoy involucrado, lo cual es básicamente todo en la parroquia! Tengo que admitir que tengo muchos dones, pero mantener un horario y una lista de cosas por hacer no es uno de ellos. Lo hago con mucho esfuerzo ya veces fracaso miserablemente. Estoy mucho mejor simplemente interactuando con la gente en el momento y cuando surge la necesidad. Pero para poder ser un buen administrador de mi tiempo y del tuyo, necesito un poco de ayuda en la oficina. Oren por Esmeralda, ya que ella comienza este papel. Esmeralda es de nuestra parroquia y es bilingüe. Estoy emocionado de tener su ayuda.
 
Para aquellos que estuvieron con nosotros en nuestra celebración Navideña, el equipo de arte y ambientación que ayudaron a embellecer la Iglesia y la música en las liturgias fue maravillosa. Muchos voluntarios ofrecieron su tiempo y talentos para ayudarnos a alabar al Señor. Todavía estamos en la búsqueda de un Director Musical de tiempo completo, pero por el momento, Charles López ha sido una ayuda maravillosa para nuestras liturgias. Nataly Cruz, quien está estudiando música en la Universidad de St. Thomas y algún día puede obtener su Maestría en Música Sacra, también ha estado ayudando a dirigir el coro en las Misas de 10 am. Y como siempre, Luis Cruz ayuda a dirigir la música en la Misa en español.
 
Les pido que digan unas palabras de agradecimiento por todo su arduo trabajo y que continúen orando para que nuestra parroquia esté abierta a la guía del Espíritu Santo y la Iglesia en nuestra celebración de la sagrada liturgia.
